Mr. Shaun McHaffie began his career in the military, serving as a Special Forces Operative in the South African Special Forces Reconnaissance Regiment, where he earned the prestigious RECCE badge No. 303. Following his military service, Mr. McHaffie transitioned to the corporate world, becoming a distinguished professional known for his excellence in new business development across Africa, particularly in the mining operations and procurement sectors.
With over 30 years of experience, Shaun has built a robust career traveling internationally, focusing on emerging markets in Africa. His expertise spans security, due diligence, and mining, making him a key player in startup ventures across Africa and South America. In the past decade, Shaun has been deeply involved in turnkey development projects, including construction and diamond and gold mining projects. His work encompasses security, due diligence, mine startups, and development through to full production in African hotspots and remote areas. Mr. Shaun is known for his entrepreneurial spirit and team-oriented approach, emphasizing environmental solutions, social development, and economic sustainability.
Mr. Shaun’s extensive network includes top government officials and tribal leaders across East and West Africa, as well as security clusters such as police, military, and intelligence services. His operational management skills are enhanced by his proficiency in computer literacy and financial management, ensuring a sound return on investment for shareholders.
Currently, Shaun focuses on sourcing and securing rough natural diamonds from Angola, Sierra Leone, and West African markets, ensuring compliance with KPC regulations. He is committed to ethical and conflict-free sourcing through artisanal cooperatives and formalized mining suppliers. Shaun is open to investment partners interested in sustainable and secure supply processes for gold and rough diamonds, with due diligence and compliance as key priorities.
Shaun holds licenses for KPC diamonds, gold, and armaments in several countries, including South Africa, Angola, DRC, Ghana, Uganda, and Sierra Leone. He resides in South Africa, UAE (Dubai), Sierra Leone, and Ghana. His professional affiliations include Focus Group Africa, SST Africa, TDS Technical Defense Solutions, SSTEP, and Big Sky Trading FZE. Shaun is also a member of SASFA.
